Life Insurance

Last night I started getting sick and woke up numerous times during the night unable to sleep. I have a bad cold. Normally it would not have been such a big deal, but this morning I had to go in and take my Life Insurance test. Fortunately the lord was able to help me concentrate enough to pass the test. I received a 87 and passing was 70. I creamed the test! All glory to God!! I have one more test to go the Series 63 which I take next Thursday. Then I will be able to start in the branch with my actual job.

Series 6

Today I took my Series 6 Licensing exam...and passed with flying colors. I felt very good and confident walking into the testing center, and it translated in my test. I now get to continue with my licensing process with Chase. I will be testing for my Life insurance and series 63 exams in the next couple of weeks. This license will allow me to sell mutual funds, unit investment trusts, and closed-end investment companies. All these can be bought separately or within an Investment Retirement Account (IRA). I will also be able to sell variable and fixed annuities. FUN!!!!

A heavy Heart

The past two weeks I have had a heavy heart. I started my new job with two other trainees. One of which is a mother of two girls, an eight year old and a two year old. During the last two weeks she has found out that her two year old has developed a hole in her skull. The little girl has gone through many test, which included 2 MRI's and a cat scan. Can you imagine a 2 year old going through all this? It hits home very hard having an almost two year old myself. I could not imagine having my little boy go through all this.
Through all these test they still don't have a 100% diagnosis of what has caused this. They believe it is a very rare disease that happens to 1 in a million. They are thinking that they are going to have to go into her head and remove the infected skull bone and put a plate in the replace the bone. A very serious surgery, through this I have shared with her in tears and concerns. I have tried to minister to her as best as I can, telling her I believe everything happens for a reason and that I am praying for her. She is very appreciative of that and for my concern. I ask that anyone who reads this would add Yabina and her daughter to your prayers. Thank you!!

Blessings,

Curt

New Job

As many if you know I started a new job on the 15th of September. I am now working with JP Morgan Chase. It is an interesting time to get into banking with everything that is going on. I am thankful to not only have a job, but to be employed by a very strong bank that is buying other banks (Washington Mutual and Bear Sterns). I am currently studying to get my series 6 license which will allow me to sell mutual funds, IRA's, and Annuities. I am very interested in the topic of finance which makes everything I am doing very enjoyable. I am set to take my test on Tuesday the 7th, so say a little pray for me.

Coming out of Hiding

Okay so it has been a while since I have updated my blog and my many fans have been requesting that I update things. So here it is: In the last 2+ months I have found a new job (Chase), I have been to my 10 year High School reunion, I have become a member of Facebook (even though I have no idea to update or check anything), my wife has started a new job, we have bought a new car, I have played in a golf tournament, and Chelsea and I have gone to Tubac, AZ and celebrated our six wonderful years of marriage. Everything wrapped up in a nutshell.

Father's Day...what a day!!

Father's day has come and gone and I will say it has been my best father's day yet. What a day! We woke up in the morning around 7 and went on a family run to my in-laws for breakfast (Don't worry I took a change of shirts and deodorant). We had wonderful pancakes and eggs with all the kids and grandparents. We all hung out outside and the kids and grandparent went in the jacuzzi. We left there and went back to our house. Chelsea went and got me a Starbucks drink and I started to prepare for the U.S. Open. My parents and brother came to our house for lunch, which was purchased at Baggin's. My dad, my brother, Asher, and I watched the Open. Three generations of Garner men all on one couch watching golf. I couldn't ask for more.

What a great Day!!

Weight Loss update

Well it has officially been a week for the weight loss challenge. The first week I weighed 196 lbs, and this week I am happy to say I am down to 194lbs. So I am on my way. I am interested in knowing what the other guys have done. I hope they are sticking to their plans and are successful.

Weight Loss Update

I have been working out and eating well for 5 days now. My workouts have consisted of swimming, the elliptical machine, and weight training. Well with my surgeries so recent I am not allowed to lift heavy weights with my hands, so I can only do my legs...Wednesday lets just say I may have went a little too hard with my legs and last night and today I have been paying for it. I have been walking around (if you can call it a walk) like an old man who has to shuffle everywhere. Needless to say my wife and Kurtis and Lara got some good laughs about my struggles last night. But I am not discouraged at all. I know what I need to do and I am going to do it. WIN!!

Weight Loss Challenge

The mens group I am a part of is conducting a little challenge. We are all challenging eachother in a weight loss contest. All of us have a desire to lose weight to feel and look more healthy. So we put pen to paper last night and decided this was the best and most exciting way to do it. I am really looking forward to this and going through the process with 3 close friends.

So in return I have decided to make my goals known to all of you...

I currently weigh 197 lbs. These are my goals:

I want to lose 12% of my current weight which would bring me down to 173 lbs.
I want to be able to run with my wife when she wants to go on a family run...she usually runs anywhere from 3 - 5 miles.
I want to be able to compete in a 10K race by September.
I want to lose fat and build and tone my muscles...Have good definition.
I want to feel and look healthy and keep the weight off once I reach my goal.
I want to reduce my blood pressure and cholestrol levels to normal.

There you have it! I will keep everyone updated on my progress. My goal is to have this all accomplished by my wedding anniversary (August 17th)!

My two hands

Last Wednesday (5/28) I had my stitches removed on my right hand. Hopefully my last surgery for a long long time. I finally have use of both of my hands and in a couple of weeks I hope to be at full strength so I can golf and do everything I was doing before the surgeries. I am so thankful for my beautiful bride who was very understanding, helpful, and full of grace during this process. Thank you babe!! For everyone who is interested I am back to changing diapers :)

I speak again...

It has been quite sometime since my last blog...this is a reoccurring theme that I hope doesn't become habit. Baseball season is over and it is back to normalcy (I am sure that my wife is happy it is over). We finished the season 8-15, not to good, but I learned a lot and had fun doing it. Along with those two things I got reconnected with a really good friend from college, Britt. It was fun to see eachother on a regular basis and coach together. Hopefully next season is better.

I am three weeks out of surgery on my left hand. I had what they call "Carpel Tunnel Release" and it has been hard not having full use of both hands. It has really made me reflect and think how lucky I am to not have any disabilities, and how much I admire and appreciate the people who do have disabilities. In a week I get to go have my right hand done...that will be a real challenge since I am right handed. Chelsea has been the best and very supportive and understanding through this process. Pray that she doesn't go out of her mind with all the daipers she has and will have to change (almost 2 months worth) and with having to do everything for me...yes everything. Thanks Babe...you are the BOMB!!!!

Peace for now!

Update on baseball

It has been quite some time since my last post...sorry to all you fans out there :) Well we are about half way through the baseball season and we are currently 4-7. Not good and to make matters even worse we are on a 4 game losing streak. My friend Britt and I are having a lot of fun coaching these boys, we feel they have a lot more talent than they are showing, but winning would make it so much more fun.

Baseball Season is Here!!!!!

Finally baseball season is here !!!! Today marks the first day of a new attitude and tradition at Rincon High School. My buddy, Britt Echols, and I are the new Varsity baseball coaches. We held our first day of try-outs today. While other programs probably cancelled practice today because of rain/snow/hail the Rangers were outside practicing. We had a fairly good turnout and are expecting a better turnout tomorrow.
Last season Rincon won 6 games (6-20). Yes you read that right, 6 games. Britt and I are taking over a program at the bottom, but today started the new winning tradition and we are very excited about the upcoming season and the boys we get to coach. We should have a great season, one with much growth and learning.
